Story of the World vol.4 JRSR

This volume travels through time beginning with Queen Victoria’s England to the end of the Soviet Union (USSR.)

This class will be structured with lecture, class discussion, individual and/or group assignments, and quizzes.  Each class period the student will be expected to take notes on the lecture, participate in class discussions, take quizzes, turn-in homework and give presentations.

Students may bring laptops to class to aid in facilitating research for group work assignments.

SEMESTER ASSIGNMENTS

  • Timeline Chart:  After each chapter, write the main events with dates on your timeline.  Keep adding dates and events throughout the semester.
  • Oral Presentation:  At the end of the semester, you will present your timeline and highlight three events you have studied in-depth.  Each event must include at least ten interesting facts.

WEEKLY HOMEWORK

  • Summary:  For each chapter, write a 200-word summary.  Approximately 100 words for each section due the following week.
  • Class Notes:  Class notes (taken each class) due on Week 12.
  • Homework:  You may choose to complete the homework individually or as a group.
    • Individual: Write 100 words or do a 1-min presentation to the class.
    • Group: Write 200 words or do a 2-min presentation to the class.

Weekly Timeline below is subject to change depending upon the ebb and flow of an in-person class. Class discussions, presentations, completing class work all play a factor in determining how fast (or slow) we move through the chapters.

    • Homework: Choose one exhibit shown at the Great Exhibition OR Tell a story that happened during the Crimean War.
